December 17, 2025 Local Stories in and Around St. Joseph, Illinois

Live at St. Joseph Village Board, April 22 2025

Consent agenda approved as presented.
Approving the recommendation to go to bid for streets and sidewalk repairs. These are sidewalks and roads that public works have identified as needing work.

Discussing the event application for the Ribcage Block Party. Approved.

Scouting America is asking to hold an event at the Sports complex. It’s a shred event, donations will be accepted but not required. It will take place May 10.

Discussing an agreement with a solar company that would give the village $110,000. It’s the solar going north of the interstate. The village can’t really say no to them due to state statute. The money will go to the parks and recreation fund.

They approved it. The village gets $110,000 donation to the parks. #winwin

Doing more language clean up on ordinances. It’s not any new ordinances. It’s just to make them less vague.

Appropriation ordinance/Budget time. They will pass an appropriation ordinance in June. Terri saying everyone has to be fiscally responsible including the staff who make decisions on where to buy certain things.

A budget is what they will spend, an appropriation is what they can spend.

Tami Fruhling-Voges saying this is her last official board meeting. She will be running the next meeting.
“I just want to thank all the trustees,” She said. “I appreciate all you guys. It has been a great team and it makes my life easier having a great time. I thank you for your service as trustees.”

Here’s the budget. It’s nothing crazy. Another town I cover just budgeted 8 million for a park. This is much more conservative.
