Ceremony to honor Edwards scheduled for Thursday

A Gift of Hope Flag raising ceremony will be held on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. at the St, Joseph-Ogden football field.

The ceremony is to honor Nadirah Edwards who died from injuries sustained in a car accident last week.

An opportunity to say a few words in honor of Edwards will be available to anyone wanting to speak.

Attendees should wear a mask and practice social distancing.

The Edwards family have asked her friends and classmates to sign the Gift of Hope Flag in her honor.  The flag will be located outside of the main office at SJO and will be available until the ceremony for anyone wanting to sign.

Gift of Hope is an organ and tissue procurement organization.

Gift of Hope has saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients since 1986.

The family has also established an art scholarship fund to honor Nadirah. Donations are being collected at the Gifford State Bank.
