Board approves concession stand project

St. Joseph-Ogden Softball  will be getting a concession stand, restrooms, and a concrete walkway that will connect to the north parking lot allowing people to park in the north parking lot and get to the softball field without going through grass, dirt, and mud.

The board of education approved a $425,400 project this week.

The board had previously discussed a value engineered concession stand after the first round of bids came in very high, but that only resulted in $21,000 in savings so the Board went back out to bid for a second time with a few changes.

The board decided that that wasn’t enough cost savings to justify a project that they weren’t fully in support of.

The board decided to rebid the project and accepted a bid at the August meeting.

The largest cost of the project is adding water, electricity, and sewer to the new structure, Brooks said.  Brooks said the district will be adding a sidewalk all the way to this building from the parking lot.

The project will be funded through sales tax dollars, which have to be spent on capital projects.
