Fall scrimmage night set at SJO

Want to get a sneak peek at what St. Joseph-Ogden High School athletes will look like this upcoming fall season?

You’re in luck.


Fans will have the opportunity to see SJO volleyball, boys’ soccer and football teams in action during intrasquad scrimmages on Friday evening.

The event will start at %:30 p.m. with the marching band playing the National Anthem on the football practice field. The football team will scrimmage on the practice field from 5:35 p.m. until 7 p.m.

At 6 p.m. the soccer team will scrimmage at Woodard Park until 7 p.m. They will then travel back to the high school to be introduced in the main gym.

At 7 p.m. the marching band will play the National Anthem in the Main Gym.

The athlete introduction will start in the Main Gym after the National Anthem. The marching band, cheerleaders, cross country athletes, volleyball players, freshman football players, varsity football players and varsity and junior varsity players will all introduced. After introductions volleyball will scrimmage until 8:30 p.m.


The event is free and open to the public, with pork chop sandwiches and concessions available.


Friday night’s scrimmages are a precursor to the start of the athletic season for SJO’s fall sports teams.

The soccer team starts its season at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Oakwood/Salt Fork before the volleyball team has its first match at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home against Decatur St. Teresa.

The SJO football team kicks off its season at 7 p.m. on Aug. 30 at home against St. Thomas More, while both SJO cross-country teams will run their first meet at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 during the Doc Acklin Memorial Invitational in Paris.
