5 Question Friday with Charlie Mabry

Every Friday we are going to ask an athlete to answer five questions. This week we talked to Charlie Mabry. Here are his answers.

  1. What does being able to compete during your senior year mean to you?
Being able to compete my senior year means a lot because of all the things that got taken away last year because of Covid. I’m glad to have this opportunity to end my running career on a high note.
  2. How do you stay motivated?
The way I stay motivated for this season is just by thinking of my team. On the mornings I really don’t want to get out of bed and run I think of the guys and what they expect from me.
  3. Are you superstitious? If so what do you always do before a race?
Before every meet I listen to music. I don’t feel right if I don’t listen to my race playlist and get in the zone.
  4. What is your best XC related memory?
There’s so many, it’s hard to choose. Each year with a new group of guys there’s more and more memories. I would say my most memorable memory is sophomore year team camp. We all sat in a circle in the football field and talked about our goals and what we wanted from the season. We all got a chance to share why we love the team and how much we appreciate each other.
  5. What has running taught you?
Running has taught me so many things. It has taught me how to work hard and get through hard times and how important the grind is. It has also taught me how important it is to surround myself with people with the same goals and being able to thrive off of each other’s energy.
