Live at St. Joseph Village Board, Nov. 12, 2024

I am going to be honest. I am watching on Youtube because I have the plague and am trying not to spread it. #thoughtiwasbetter #nowiamnot

Last meeting, they voted to not pay Experience Champaign-Urbana $1,000 for the annual membership fee. I think this was due to the fact that the board doesn’t see the benefit. In my opinion (as Chamber President) they don’t really promote restaurants, stores or events out here and I don’t think I believe people are going to Champaign for the IHSA basketball tournament and then deciding to come out here and eat.

I know previously EC-U has said if they are sent events they will post them but I do a tourism guide for Piatt County and while it’s great when people send in stuff it’s also my job to hunt stuff out. EC-U have a lot of people working for them and I don’t think that should fall on the village office staff to do when they are already over worked. 10/10 a great decision.

They approved the consent agenda which is minutes, executive minutes which the public cannot see, investments, bills and regular meeting schedule for 2025.

They approved the annual tax level ordinance.

You can read that here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zq_qp1KTCHuo-4pSTQMCNTiTxkn6OPQg

And approved the modified schedule for meetings in 2024. They do this every year and don’t meet near Christmas. They are meeting Dec. 17 instead of Dec. 10 and 24. #santaaintcomingtovillagehall

The duplexes should have a preliminary design to the village within a few weeks.

Caucus is Dec. 2. Both party chairs have been notified. Republican will be at 6:30 p.m. at Township.
Democrats haven’t set their caucus time yet.

They were to discuss a raffle ordinance. They are tabling it for this meeting.

Tami is talking about the mural. The money for it was donated. I am going to interview the artist. #onceiamnotsickly #nottryingtobethemonkeyinoutbreak #didiagemyself

The mural is very beautiful though. For real. Go check it out. Take some photos.

They are getting a giant tree for Christmas instead of using the girl scout tree, this year. “We have a humongous tree coming our way.” #prayitstaysupright

Ashley in the office has busted her butt for this scavenger hunt and Christmas tree lighting event on Dec. 6. Vickie Reese is doing amazing work for Holly Jolly Kid’s Christmas on Dec. 7 and the Women’s Club is hosting the Christmas Parade on Dec. 14 in the evening. There will also be the Santa 5K on Dec. 14.

She is also talking about the newsletter the village is doing. There will be one in November before the holiday events.

They are going into closed now.
