Vendor profile: That Little Farm in the Country

Tell me about your business.
That Little Farm in the Country is a small business in Sidney. I design and sell farm and garden-themed merchandise. Pretty much everything I sell was designed and/or hand-crafted by me. I have fun and sassy stickers, magnets, and mugs. I also have bookmarks, Christmas cards and ornaments, tic-tac-toe boards, hand-crafted mosaics, decorative pieces, and more. All with pigs, chickens, goats, barns, flowers, or other similar designs. Additionally, you can make-your-own garden flower decoration from plates, bowls, and votives in my tent. Mix and match from hundreds of options to make your own perfect one-of-a-kind flower decoration that never requires weeding or watering! I also offer custom mosaic pet portraits, which are so fun and special.

What has been the most challenging part about being a business owner?
Trying to figure out the social media and online aspect of running a business has been difficult for me. (Please follow That Little Farm on Facebook – hint, hint) Also balancing the time for a regular job with the rest of life, and trying to squeeze in everything (including social media) for That Little Farm is hectic!

What is the best part about working festivals?
I love sharing my love of all things farm and garden with other people. It makes my day to see someone’s face light up at my “What the Cluck” stickers, or when they make a garden flower that brings such a huge smile to their face.

What inspired you to go into business?
About four years ago I was looking for merchandise with a specific breed of pig on it, and it just didn’t exist. So I taught myself Adobe Illustrator to make a sticker design, and sold it to other pig farmers. And the adventure expanded from there. I have so many ideas for even more graphic designs to make in the future, as well as ideas for lots of other artwork.

What is your favorite carnival food?
I love popcorn and snow cones. Salt & sugar!
