Get to know SJO volleyball player Taylyn Lockhart

What do you think makes the team so successful?

Our work ethic and how well we are able to play together as a team and as a family. We have pushed ourselves to work harder and be better every day of our season.

What is your favorite thing about volleyball and the team?

I love volleyball because it always had a very intense and energetic atmosphere. With volleyball, us players have to come together and work as a team and I love that. I love how close we are as a team. We have so much fight in us and it really shows and I love that about us. We can overcome any obstacles that are thrown at us. I love how we are able to push each other to be better and encourage each other.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I always have to listen to Morgan Wallen’s songs, my favorite worship song, and I have to sit by my best friend Chloe Harper.

What has been the most important thing Coach McDonald has taught you?

To always push yourself to be better and that more is always possible with hard work.

What is the most challenging part about playing volleyball at SJO?

The SJO volleyball program is very competitive and every team we play wants to beat us. We have to give 100% every day, nothing less. We are expected to come to practice and games and work hard. SJO volleyball always has had a very high reputation which can be challenging at some times to keep up!
