Description & Details
The Village of St. Joseph is looking for a full-time Bookkeeping/Payroll Specialist;
Administrative Assistant who seeks to join a team of dedicated professionals working in partnership with the community.


Position Summary
Under the direction of the Village Administrator, this position oversees and performs
professional activities related to bookkeeping and payroll functions of the organization.


This position will also serve as an Administrative Assistant, being coordinated by the Lead Administrative Assistant in ensuring the efficient operations of the Village office.


Key Responsibilities Summarized
Primarily responsible for the effective operations of Village Bookkeeping and Payroll
functions. Receives coordination and support from the Lead Administrative
Assistant as needed.


Supports the Utility Billing Specialist in the effective operation of the Village Sewer
Utility. Collects payments and ensures regular deposits are completed on a routine
basis. Substitutes for the Utility Billing Specialist as needed.


Serves as an Administrative Assistant. Assigned tasks as required for the efficient
operation of the Village Office. Supports various Village departments and efforts as
needed.


Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An individual must be able to use computer in word processing, spreadsheets, and data base applications. Must have knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger applications. An individual must be able to prioritize tasks. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
HS Diploma or G.E.D.
Attendance at a four year (or higher) college and/or vocational technical school helpful but not required.
Prior bookkeeping experience is required.
Prior payroll experience is highly desirable.
Municipal experience is preferred, but not required.

Compensation and Benefits
Hiring range is $16.00 – $19.00 per hour ($33,280 – $39,520 annual) DOQ and directly related experience.
