Village hopes to accommodate restaurants for outdoor seating

The Village of St. Joseph is hoping to help its restaurants in any way it can.

Governor JB Pritzker announced on Wednesday that restaurants would be able to offer outdoor seating as part of the Phase 3 reopening.

“We will have that discussion on the agenda,” Mayor Fruhling-Voges said.

The village board meets Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Fruhling-Voges said she had already had several inquiries about somehow giving restaurants downtown space to allow for outdoor seating.

“I think it’s a small thing to give restaurants an opportunity to make a few more dollars,” she said. “We need to think outside of the box to keep them from being crushed.”

Also at the meeting tonight, the board is expected to discuss information received regarding hiring a village administrator, drive-in events at Woodard Park, and updates to the pool fencing ordinance.
