January 30, 2026 Local Stories in and Around St. Joseph, Illinois

‘We are here to stay’

AJ’s Station is here to stay.

Owner Anthony Laubscher said he wanted to let the St. Joseph community know, that despite rumors to the contrary, his auto shop located at 221 E. Warren isn’t going anywhere.

“We are here to stay,” he said.

Laubscher said he loves St. Joseph, the town he and his wife, Jennifer, have chosen to live in and raise their daughter Sophie.

“I care about this community,” he said.

Laubscher said he employs local people at his St. Joseph shop, which was named best auto repair shop in the 217 area code in July by Illini Radio Group, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“The people that work here are local and that is important to me,” he said.

Laubscher and his business donate to local charities including youth sport and other groups.

Again, Laubscher said that is because of his commitment to the community.

“I like to help whenever I can,’” he said.
