St. Joseph PTC sponsoring school supply drive

Katie May doesn’t want any child in St. Joseph to start the school year without the supplies they need.

The St. Joseph Grade School Nurse and PTC board member is running a school supply drive in conjunction with the St. Joseph PTC.

May based her donation list on the grade school supply lists.

The list includes yellow highlighters, washable markers, pencil bags, glue sticks, Expo Dry Erase Markers, 12 count Crayola Colored Pencils, two-pocket folders, erasers, 4 ounce Elmers Glue, red, black and blue pens, black Sharpies, one subject wide ruled spiral notebooks, Crayola washable watercolor paints, Lysol wipes, Kleenex and scissors.

“All students deserve to start school with the supplies they need to make their school year a success,” May said.

The donation drive runs through July 31 and donations can be dropped off at Busey Bank on Main Street and the St. Joseph Library on Third Street.

May said the community has been responsive to the drive.

“The community always pulls together when needed and they have been wonderful in helping with school supply donations,” she said. “I have a list of students who need help and would love to be able to help all of them this year and have some left for teachers to use for extra supplies for their classrooms as well.”
