Ogden reminds residents to use Recycling Dumpster responsibly

The Ogden Village Board is reminding people that the Ogden Recycling Center is not a garbage dump.

Yesterday the village discovered garbage piled outside of the Dumpster used to collect recycling.

This has been an ongoing problem for the village.

Trustee Sue Esposito said that is why numerous towns have discontinued their recycling service.

“I think recycling is important,” she said. “However, the reason every community doesn’t have a recycling bin is because it is often abused. We either pay for more pickups, deal with the mess, or get rid of it.”

The recycling Dumpster, at the Old High School Park, is for residents of the Village of Ogden and Ogden Township residents.

The village is asking residents to not leave items outside of the Dumpster. If the Dumpster is full they need to wait until it has been emptied.

Leaving items outside of the dumpster is illegal dumping and subject to fines.

The Dumpster is for recyclables only which includes cardboard, milk jugs and plastic bottles.
