Live at SJO school board

I am just a tad late cause the husband was on radio. #wdwssportstalk

They are doing a facilities update. Things are coming along well. There are some issues with graphics in the weight room, ect.

Superintendent Brian Brooks hopes to have an open house to share all the projects with the public sometime in February.

Discussing what parking will look like in the future. 232 parking spaces in the future. 180 parking passes out now. “More parking and it will be more spaced out.” #praisethelord

Doing a deep dive on parking.

SPORTS TIME- softball is up first. They could keep it there in the current location. It a short homerun fence. They thought they could move it but they can move it to 190 and 200 in center. Softball would be move to wear baseball is now. Soccer and football practice field would go where the current softball field is and that center field between to the two ball fields. (If I am reading the bllue print right)

Still discussing where all the fields, parking, ect. could go. Nothing is set in stone. They are just talking about how far people would have to walk, ect.

They are approving the proposed tax levy. A 2 cent tax decrease is most likely depending on where the EAV falls. it is one of the lowest high school tax rates in the State of Illinois. #fiscallyresponsible

talking about the alley that they are taking control of from the village.

They are taking control of the alley. It’s really not a big deal but still kinda cool that two governmental agencies are working together like that.

Discussing activity buses. Buses are in short supply. #likeeverythingelse?

BLOCK scheduling update. They are going to look at graduation credit requirements. Every student will have the chance to take 32 credits if they start in block as a freshman. They need 29 credits to graduate. They would need to pass 90 percent of their classes to graduate. They could fail up to six classes and graduate.

Discussing the school report card. Principal Gary Page is discussing the Exemplary School designation Officer maxey discussing how awesome it is to see former SJO students doing great things in the community and working on the facilities upgrade projects. They have been apart of the building crews, painting, the whole deal.

“It’s pride, it never leaves,” said Jim Rein.

Mr. Page took a former high level athlete on a tour and when they saw the auditorium they said “this is amazing. I have to take a video of this.”

Meeting adjourned.
