‘I’m so thankful and grateful for this opportunity’

Amy Gibbons is celebrating a birthday.

Salon 192 opened two years ago today.

“The past two years have definitely been a roller coaster and I never thought I’d be here but I’m so thankful and grateful for this opportunity,” Gibbons said.

The salon, located at 101 S. Main in St. Joseph, offers a wide range of hair services from extensions to cuts and colors. And now, the salon offers spa treatments including lash lifts and tints, lash extensions, facials, and more.

“With our new spa room, it’s so relaxing, so incredibly home-y,” Gibbons said. “That’s what I love about it most.”

Gibbons said the new esthetician, Tristyn Mingee, offers multiple facial services.

“She is able to customize them just for your skin, for all skin types,” Gibbons said.

Mingee is also certified in eyelash extensions, eyelash and eyebrow lifting and tinting, as well as body and facial waxing.

Gibbons said the pandemic hasn’t affected the business too much, except for cancelations due to illness or exposure.

“We have had lots more cancellations and no shows which we totally understand is just a time we are in now but we just ask for as much heads up as possible,” Gibbons said.

Gibbons said while owning her own business is fun, it’s also challenging. However, the best part is working with her best friend Lexie Barnett, who is also a stylist at the salon.

“Working with my bestie and having a flexible schedule doing what we love has been amazing,” she said.

On Feb. 12 Salon 192 will be hosting a 1100 East Boutique pop up /open house at the salon from Noon to 4 p.m.

On March 13 the salon will host a botox event with Lively Aesthetics.
