Fit Wits (Brain Health: It’s a No Brainer!)

Brains are complex organs that researchers are learning more about each day. In this session, participants will learn brain basics, about factors that can contribute to cognitive decline, and normal age-related changes in the brain. Backyard Birders!

Interpretive Center, Homer Lake Forest Preserve

This program is for preschoolers ages 2-6 to learn as we play in nature! For our first program of 2019, we will learn all about the birds you can find right in your backyard! Dress up like a bird, practice bird calls, and make a bird feeder to take home! This is a chance for parents/guardians to engage with children as they experience the natural world. Dress for the weather, as we may go for a short hike. Join us on at Homer Lake on the first Friday of each month for a new topic! FREE. Country Springtime Shop Hop

The shops will feature their new spring items on March 1 & 2, 2019 along with refreshments and prizes. Be sure to pick up your Shop Hop Card at the first shop you visit and have it stamped at all 7 shops. Then turn it in at the last shop for your chance to win one of our grand prizes. Did you know that the Homer Lake Forest Preserve has a 200 year-old Sugar Maple Grove? People have been tapping sugar maple trees to make sugar and syrup for centuries, and now you can, too! Explore the science and the history behind maple sugaring, learn how to do it yourself, and even take home a sample of syrup made from our very own trees. All ages. $5 per person. Space is limited.
