Live at St. Joseph Village Board

We are here… via zoom and liveblogging the St. Joseph Village Board meeting.

They are discussing bills right now. Nothing out of the ordinary.

The village will not do an emergency ordinance like other towns have done. They will post how they are doing the meetings and are encouraging public participation via email. “We will continue to improve our process.”

Village office still closed to the public.

Public Works got a letter detailing the expectations of social distancing, ect. so they can continue to work. It also detailed the family leave policies, ect. The village is asking residents not to approach public works staff if they see them around the village.

The mayor said she hasn’t heard of anyone playing on the playgrounds, ect.

The mayor said the fire department is in good shape on ppe.

The village may apply for federal funds through FEMA. Fruhling-Voges said budgeting will be tricky in the future because sales tax and a lot of other funding sources will be down.

Buddy McElwee stepped down from planning and zoning. Sam Furrer has been approved to be on planning and zoning.

All of the things that needed to be fixed at the sewer plant is good to go, the report is sent to OSHA and they signed off on it. #GOLUKE

CENSUS: St. Joseph has a completion rate of 67 percent
Mahomet: 63.5 percent

Roy McCarty is resigning from the village board. “I Roy McCarty will be resigning from the St. Joseph Village Board as a trustee on April 15, 2020 for health reasons.”

Roy served for 10 and a half years.

He thanked the mayor, village board members and village employees.

Just a personal note: Roy was an absolute fighter for the village, the residents and was completely dedicated to doing what he thought was right for the village. He is just a stand-up man. We were lucky to have him represent us.

There will be a trustee position open so those interested should contact the mayor.

They are discussing the changes to the open meetings act and FOIA during this time of weirdness. Trustees can vote through Zoom and if they have to cancel a meeting they don’t have to give 10 days notice, ect. They are committed to being transparent and allowing public to participate in a safe way.

Parks: Nothing at this time.
Buildings and Grounds: Discussing sheds, roofs, ect. They are going to table it to get more information.

The meeting has concluded.
