Fall into a ‘Trap’ today at SJO

Today at 2 p.m. a mystery will unfold at St. Joseph-Ogden High School.

The SJO drama department is producing “Trap” a play that is different than most of their fall plays, said Director Chandler Dalton.

“I wanted to change things up a bit since we have done comedies for the past two years,” she said.

Trap is far from a comedy, instead it is a mystery where every person in the audience of a high school play falls unconscious—except one.

Using interviews with witnesses, loved ones, first responders, and the investigators pursuing the case, the drama department brings the story of the strange event to life, documentary-style.

But as the strands weave together into an increasingly dangerous web, it becomes clear that this phenomenon might not be entirely in the past.

Dalton said there are 46 speaking parts in the show and SJO has 34 in the cast and 18 in the crew.

“This is a completely different show than what we have done in the past,” she said.

The actors are excited about the show which will see the audience sitting closer to the actors.

“We are doing this show black box style so the audience is sitting closer to the actors and in a different formation that our typical shows,” Dalton said. “This show also has original music that adds to the suspense of the show.”

Dalton said the students have been excited about the show since the received the script.

“We are so excited for the audience to see it,” she said. “They should expect a great show.”

Tickets are available at the door $7 for adults, $6 for students and $5 for seniors and children 12 and under.
