Everyone is here.
Pickleball is here to discuss events and the Fourth of July parade.
The Fourth of July parade will be held July 3 and will be a food drive for Feed the Need. They need monetary donations or cereal.
Pickleball is exploding in St. Joseph. There is interest from the high schoolers about pickleball.
Art is asking for clarification on bills.
New Business: The grocery tax. The State last August signed a bill removing the collection of the state on grocery tax. The state was funneling it back to municipalities. The village has the option to reinstate the tax. Page is recommending they do that because that is $60,000 a year the village would have to make up or cut services. Page is saying it is not an additional tax and no one will be paying more than they are now.
Art saying if they take away the $60,000 it will harm the parks and the village subsidizes the parks by almost $150,000. (I would argue that it’s not really subsidizing. Parks aren’t supposed to make money, they are for the greater good of your community.)
Anyway, they would be even further in the hole if they didn’t pass this.
They passed it. You will be paying the same for your groceries in the village.
Steve Peters is discussing AED for the village and the sports complex.
Joe saying his preference is to purchase one for the sports complex first and see how it goes.
Looking at dash cams and GPS for village vehicles.
They are buying dash cams!
Solar Panels at the sewer plant. Basically, they are just approving payment for the agreement the previous board approved.
They are doing the first reading of the appropriation ordinance. appropriation is what they can spend not what they will spend.
There are two openings on planning and zoning. You should apply if you are interested in the village. Zoning is amazing and really vital to shaping the town. You can find more information on the village Facebook.
