5 Questions with Republican Caucus candidate Terri Cummings

What made you want to run?

When my husband and I moved to St Joseph 14 years ago I felt it important to learn about the community. First I joined the Homeowners Association and then decided it was time to learn more about the village as a whole so I accepted a trustee position on the board.

What are the major challenges facing the village?

I believe prioritizing our goals and stay steadfast in providing the resources to complete those goals.

What would be your four year goal for the village?
My four year goal would be to continue to support the current expansion of the sewer plant and other infrastructure projects along with focusing on economic development.

What should people know about you?

I have over 20 years in Higher Education that has taught me collaborative leadership where it allows us as a board to address issues and achieve shared goals, prioritizing open communication, shared responsibility, building consensus rather than relying solely on top-down decision making.

How would your previous experience benefit the board?

I believe I will provide some continuity as we transition to a new Mayor and some new trustees.
