Live at St. Joseph Village Board, Feb. 14, 2023

Happy Valentines Day.
I was two minutes late and we are already done with the investments.

Wes Taylor is here. Taylor lives in Broadlands and is here to discuss a potential development.

They want to build a top of the line self storage complex by the Monicals. He is here to feel out the board since he would need a special use permit. Max Painter said he would like to see something else there. Terri Cummings saying the board needs to think about what the community needs there and told Taylor he could come build houses here when the community expands.

Taylor saying Monicals has to agree with whatever is built there. Taylor is giving them more information on his project.

Painter saying that it scares him to say no to Taylor then nothing else goes there.

Nothing decided.

Clark Dietz is here to discuss the northern utility expansion. This is very complex so I will get a copy of it and report back.

Discussing the public works storage needs. Vehicles, equipment would go in it. EZ Loc storage in Urbana has a unit that would work for $310 per month. That is not ideal, according to the administrator.

Discussing sports complex field maintenance agreement. Dan Davis saying they need to improve the facilities to attract tournaments and bring in more sales tax revenue to area businesses.

Just as a tax payer I don’t want any more “improvements” for those ball diamonds. unless they hire a parks and rec director to actually schedule tournaments.

Art pointing out that they did upgrade football and soccer.

Max saying they are just throwing money out the window. Apparently there’s a tournament coming to town.

Tami saying someone should make a flyer to hand out at events so people know what is downtown.

I made something like that for the chamber and it didn’t really take off. Plus…. don’t people just google?

they are currently discussing the schedule for vehicle replacement.

Buying a flock camera that they already budgeted.

April 5 the high school is using the sports complex for a mock accident. #ILOVETHESE #suchagoodlesson

WCIA Our Town wants to come out on June 9. Tami said the village is interested.

A new deputy is in town. Tami is praising the police for their response to the incidents on Wednesday.

meeting over.
