Getting to know SJO football Captain Aidan McCorkle

We asked the SJO football team captains five questions. Here are Aidan McCorkle’s responses.

Why is being a team captain important to you?
Being a team captain is important to me because this team means a lot to me and I wanna be the best I can for them and lead by example. The Spartan program is a great program and being a Captain for it means a ton.

How was the team able to win its final three games and clinch a playoff berth?
We were able to win our last three games because we knew we needed to show everyone who the Spartans really are and we used that energy to compete and win.

When did you start playing football and why did you stick with it?
I started playing football in fourth grade and I’ve loved it ever since it’s like no other sport and you put so much into it so winning and losing just means that much more.

When you look back on this season in 25 years from now, what are you going to remember most and why?
In 25 years I’m going to remember beating Paxton and seeing how proud Coach Skinner was of us because he knew what we were capable of doing and we did what he knew we could do. I hope to be able to continue to do that in these next games.

How would you describe what it’s like running onto Dick Duval Field before a game?
Running on to Dick Duval field is exhilarating because you think of all the former Spartans who came before and what they were able to accomplish and hope to make them and the program proud.
