Burnett, Steinbach lead SJO volleyball to season-opening win

The St. Joseph-Ogden High School volleyball team opened its season Monday night with a solid win. The Spartans went on the road and defeated Maroa-Forsyth 23-25, 25-20, 25-18 to claim a three-set nonconference win.


Kennedi Burnett paced SJO (1-0) with 13 kills to go along with five digs. Shayne Immke added nine kills and six digs, while Becca Steinbach narrowly missed out on a double-double by compiling 32 assists and nine digs to go along with two blocks.
Addie Roesch (three aces) and Hannah Fox (16 digs) also chipped in for the Spartans.

\]SJO is set to get back into action at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Georgetown-Ridge Farm before hitting the road again Thursday for a 7 p.m. nonconference match against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.
