Employees help co-worker during time of need

The staff at the St. Joseph Subway wanted to help April Patton.

Manager Adam Porter said his co-worker said she had a headache and blurry vision.

Porter told her to go home but she chose to keep working.

“She insisted on staying,” he said.

Patton eventually went to the doctor where it was determined she had had a stroke.

Porter knew he and her co-workers had to do something.

“April is such a caring person who genuinely wants the best for everyone and cares about all of her coworkers and bosses,” he said.

Porter started a Go Fund Me to help relieve the stress that Patton’s family will be going through while she is off work recovering.

“Hopefully this money will help them be able to focus on her health rather than worrying about money,” he said.

Porter said Patton was very grateful when she
was told about the fundraiser. Especially, when Porter told her the employees had decided to donate all their tips for one pay period to her.

“She said we didn’t have to do that,” he said. “I think we did though because she is like family to all of us at the store. I wanted to do this fundraiser because I spend so much time with April and know how great she is and I want to help her however I can.”
