Changes to summer reading program announced

The St. Joseph Township Library’s summer reading program will look a little different this year.

Librarian Susan McKinney said this years theme is “Dig Deeper at your Library!”

“Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have had to redesign our summer reading program for this year,” she said. “We will be making log sheets available June 6th for
our June 8th start date.”

The reading logs will allow readers ages three to 100 to keep track of their reading in 10 minute increments.

The library is currently offering curbside, contactless service only so all crafts will be curbside pick-up to work
on at home and all prizes will be handed out in August.

There will not be a summer reading program party nor any special programs this summer.

From August 1 to 31, participants will turn in their reading log sheets. The children ages three to completed 6th grade will receive their
level prizes at that time.

Teens and Adults will turn in their log sheets and receive their Barnes & Noble gift cards (purchased by library) and will go to their respective table to select a prize for their participation.

On September 1st, the library will take the completed log sheets turned in by the children ages 3 to completed 6th grade and draw random winners for the prizes we had allocated for weekly prizes.

Anyone wanting to donate to the summer reading program can email McKinney at stjosephtownshiplibrary@gmail.com.
