10 things you don’t know about me… Karin Poulter

Every week we ask an area resident to tell us 10 things we don’t know about them.

This week we talked to Karin Poulter, the owner of Style Boutique. You can join her group here.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Going to my grandparents’ farm in northern Wisconsin every year for Thanksgiving. We’d always get there super late. It didn’t matter what time we arrived, as we pulled up the porch light would come on and my Oma and Opa would be standing in the doorway waiting for us. We’d chop down our Christmas tree while we were there and tie it to the roof of our car for the ride home.

What are you most proud of?
Anyone who remotely knows me knows the answer to this one —My 4 children

What was the name of your first pet?
Brandy, or as my parents liked to call her-the pisser, a miniature dachshund.

What is the best advice you have ever received and who gave it to you?
I read recently “in a world where you can be anything, be kind.” That really resonated with me and I try to live up to that statement.

What is a book you have read that has stayed with you?
“My Sister’s Keeper”

What is a movie or TV show you can watch over and over?
Honestly, I’m not one to watch anything over and over. I’m more of a 1 and done.

What is something you always carry with you?
I have one of my Oma’s necklaces hanging from my rear view mirror. It’s one I gave her long ago that has those birthstone babies on it. I always remember how proudly she wore that necklace. It makes me feel close to her having it there where I see it every day.

Where is your most favorite place you have traveled to?
Cancun with my family

What is the best part of your job?
I like a lot of things about my job, but I absolutely love all the people I have met and the friendships I have made along the way.

What would someone be surprised to know about you?
I’m first-generation American. My parents both came here from Germany when they were children.
