Weekend Family Fun Guide

Head over to the Vermilion Regional Airport tomorrow to see hundreds of hot air balloons and fun family activities at the Balloons over Vermilion event. Admission is $5 and children 10 and under are free with a paying adult. Parking is $5.

The community flight takes off at 6:30 a.m.

The gates of the airport open at 1 p.m. At 1 p.m. the Crazy Johnny Band performs.

At 1 p.m. the Illiana Antique Automobile Club is sponsoring a Classic Car Show.

At 1 p.m. the Kids zone opens. The Kids Zone includes inflatables, joyful bubbles, face painting, a retro photo booth and lawn games including Twister, Jenga and Kerplunk. Inflatables include a Camelot Castle, the Batman, a Giant Dual Slide, a Gladiator Joust, Warrior’s Jump and Radical Run. The inflatables take 1-3 tickets and tickets cost $1 each.

At 2 p.m. the Balloon School opens and the balloon photo booth opens
The focus of the Balloon School is to present information so kids and their parents will gain a basic understanding about all facets of ballooning in a hands-on environment.
 
In addition to lots of information, a balloon will be cold-inflated so students can walk through it, feel it, see it up close, and see the lines, pulleys and vents that help pilots guide balloons in flight.  

At 2 p.m. their is an archery demonstration and lessons

At 3 p.m. the band Boss Hogg and The Good Ol’ Boys performs

At 4:30 p.m. the Dable Allen Band performs

At 6 p.m. the band Cobalt performs

At 6:30 p.m. there is a balloon launch and tethered balloon rides will take place.

At 7:30 p.m. the band Double Dots will perform.

At 8:30 p.m. the balloon glow will take place.

At 9 p.m. the band House of Cards will perform.

At 9:15 p.m. there will be a laser light show.

And at 10:30 p.m. the gates close.
