February 22, 2026 Local Stories in and Around St. Joseph, Illinois

Audiobooks available at Homer Library

Do you do a lot of driving? Get bored while exercising? Need help keeping your kids entertained during a long car trip? Or maybe you’re just having a hard time reading because your eyes don’t work as well as they used to? AUDIOBOOKS may be just what you need!

Did you know that the Library has audiobooks both on CD and through our subscription to Axis 360?  While we don’t have a huge selection on CD here at the library (we have around 300), we do have some for every age group: young children, juniors, young adults, and both adult fiction and non-fiction. We also have quite a few classics on CD.  You know those books you were supposed to read in high school but didn’t? Well, if you’d like to know what you missed out on, but still don’t want to take the time to read all of The Canterbury Tales or Wuthering Heights, we’ve got you covered with the audiobook.

We have some of the most popular kids’ series on CD here at the library -Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and the Chronicles of Narnia.  For the younger kids we have several Disney stories and Read-a-long audiobooks.  AND, we just got in over a dozen new kids’ audiobooks, many of which are recent award winners.

What we don’t have here, we can either interlibrary loan for you or you might find through Axis 360. Axis 360 is a great app which allows you to download an audiobook to almost any smart phone or table and listen to even when you don’t have wi-fi available.

If you’re interested, come on in and we will show you where our selections are as well as help you get set up with Axis 360.

Not sure audiobooks are right for you? Well, one of the best things about having a Library card is, you can take some home, try them out risk-free at no cost, and then return them if you decide you don’t like them. It doesn’t get much better than that!  For more information contact us at 217-896-212,  homerlibrarian@gmail or checkout our website at www.homercommunitylibrary.com.
