Area Halloween events start this weekend

Oct. 22.
The SJO Student Council is hosting Halloween fun from 5-6:30 p.m. High School Students will hold a trunk or treat in the high school parking lot. The Haunted Hallways Kiddie Hour will also take place from 6 to 6:45 p.m. During Kiddie Hour the lights will be kept on, scary music and sounds will not be playing and scares will be milder during this time. For those a little older, the Haunted Hallways will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. with a $5 donation or one canned food per person.

Oct. 28
The St. Joseph PTC is bringing the annual trunk or treat back from 6 to 8 pm in the middle school parking lot. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Oct. 29
Halloween Parade with the Mayor at 10 a.m.
Meet at the Village Hall and the Mayor will lead a parade of children in their costumes through the downtown stopping at participating businesses. The Parade will finish back at the village hall with a special presentation and treats. Parents must accompany children.

At 11 a.m. in BJ Hackler Park, the St. Joseph-Ogden National Honor Society is hosting a pet Halloween Costume Contest as a fundraiser for the Champaign County Humane Society. For a free will donation owners can enter their pets into categories which include:
Pet and human group costume
Pet group costume
Funniest costume
Cutest costume
Best overall costume

IGA TRUNK OR TREAT
Local businesses and non profits will have a chance to showcase themselves during the second IGA Trunk or Treat on Oct. 29. The event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Trunks need to be at the IGA by 4:15 p.m. and decorated by 5 p.m. There is no cost to participate but businesses must provide their own candy. OCT. 31
The Ogden Rose Library will hold a haunted library event from 5:30 p.m to 8 p.m.
