Painter wants to help St. Joseph thrive

Max Painter wants what is best for the community.

That’s why he is running for re-election tonight at the St. Joseph Republican Caucus.

“I enjoy working with my fellow board members to maintain our thriving community,” he said. “As a local business owner, I feel I can bring a unique perspective with my business knowledge.”

Painter said his long term goals include working to expand the village to be more competitive with Champaign and Urbana businesses. Short term he would like to identify a space to offer a dog park.

“I also feel I am uniquely qualified with a broad background and perspectives as a veteran, I grew up in a small town and am an 18 year resident of St. Joe, have a bachelor’s degree in Economics, and am a local business owner for almost 20 years,” he said.

Painter said the most challenging part of being a village trustee is trying to make everyone happy.

‘Our goal is always to make the best decision for our community based on all the information we have,” He said. “We know there are always going to be differing views and sometimes we can’t always make everyone happy. At the end of the day, I just hope the residents know we always have their and our communities best interest at heart in everything we do.”

Painter said he hopes his fellow residents know he genuinely cares about St. Joseph and wants what is best for the community and he hopes to continue to serve the community he loves.

“I think it is important to get involved and use your talents where you can for your community,” he said. “Since I didn’t grow up here, being on the board has given me the opportunity to get to know more people and build camaraderie and relationships to better serve our community and what their needs are.”
