Aden brings Easter joy to community

The Easter Bunny made sure children in St. Joseph had a happy holiday this past weekend.

St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Lindsey Aden saw another community was doing an Easter Egg drop off to replace a community egg hunt that was canceled and thought the idea could work in St. Joseph.

“I adapted it a bit to fit our area but I knew St. Joseph parents would be on board because we live in such a supportive community,” she said.

Aden had parents message her on Facebook and for $5 she stuffed and then hid eggs in their yard and left a special basket from the Easter Bunny.

Aden had some help with the project.

“A couple of past and present SJO students were immediately interested in helping me,” she said.
The students who helped followed social distancing guidelines, Aden said.

Aden said that the shelter in place order hasn’t changed her life too much as both her parents are essential workers and she is providing child care for a family that is also still working.

“I’ve tried to keep it normal by doing homework at night and face timing with my friends,” she said.

“I thought that this egg hunt would provide me with a project to distract me from the abnormal times, and it also allows me to bring some joy to the community.”
