Rides available to fish fry

The mayor and some local residents are hoping more seniors can attend the St. Joseph Community Festival held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Sports Complex.

The festival was previously held at Kolb Park near downtown St. Joseph.
When the festival was moved to Woodard Park many seniors told the mayor it was harder for them to attend because of the distance from the parking lot to the fish fry and other events of the festival.

“This is another great reason to love our community,” Mayor Tami Fruhling-Voges said. “ The seniors of this community mean a lot to me and this has been on my mind for quite some time.“

Fruhling-Voges said she reached out to the Saturday Morning Men’s Prayer Group and they will offer a shuttle from the parking lot at Woodard Park to the main area of the festival.

“This will be the first year to give this a try, so we may have a few kinks to work out over time, but I’m excited that we can hopefully make it possible for more of our seniors to be able to come out and enjoy visiting their friends at the festival.,” she said.

Rides will be available Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

“I am very thankful to the men’s group for their generous offer and look forward to seeing more of our senior citizens able to attend the St. Joseph Community Festival,” she said.
