10 things you don’t know about me… Stacey Livingston

Every week we ask an area resident to tell us 10 interesting things about themselves. This week we spoke to Stacy Livingston from the St. Joseph Dairy Queen.

1.I’m not from Illinois. I’m from Missouri. I met my husband shortly after I turned 21, and moved here later that year. We have now been together for 19 years.

2. My husband and I have 2 kids. Kimberly is 20, and will give us our first grandson in mid-August. Chayce is 17 and will be a senior this year. I can’t wait to watch him play football, GO SPARTANS!!

3. I am ¼  Native American Cherokee. My maternal grandmother, who still lives in California is full blooded and her father actually lived on a reservation. His father was a chief and survived the Trail of Tears.

4. My family does not sleep without fans. We currently have eight fans in our household.

5. I have worked at Dairy Queen for 11 years in September. The first year was in the Urbana store, and the remaining 10 in the St. Joseph one that I transferred to after I moved to Ogden from Urbana.

6. Even though I work in the biggest ice cream place around, I actually don’t like it much. I only eat it on very few occasions.

7. In the 11 years I have worked at Dairy Queen, I have only called in sick maybe 3 times. It was when my kids were younger and home sick from school. But even when I practically lost my voice I was still at the drive-thru.

8. I do not like being outside. The sun is too bright. The wind is blowing too much. It’s too cold. It’s too hot.

9. I am more of the old fashioned type of person. I like to be the one who does most of the cooking, cleaning and taking care of my family. No one goes without eating!

10.  After my sophomore year in high school, my mom was ready to move two hours away. I did not want to change schools for my last two years, so I moved out on my own at 16. I had a job, and graduated, with good attendance from Macon High School, 1997.
