Village of St. Joseph, TIF meeting, April 29, 2025

I am here. With only a few of my closest friends. They are voting tonight.

They passed all three TIF ordinances.

The village is discussing the intergovernmental agreement with the SJO district. Basically, the mayor can sign the agreement for 60 days. If the schools don’t approve it within 60 days the mayor has no more authorization to sign it and they have to do another ordinance.

Tami saying this is where the village is at and she doesn’t mind them getting more clarification but “We aren’t actively negotiating at this point.”

As far as I know none of the taxing bodies have approved the proposed intergovernmental agreements at this point.

Rusty from the fire protection district is saying that they have only had the agreement for eight days “so there haven’t been a lot of time to nail stuff down.”

Rusty is bringing up the clause the village added that if a residential property that is currently in the TIF gets a TIF agreement with the village it is now considered new residential. TIF lawyer said it will never be a big scale thing. Rusty saying he wouldn’t think so but it’s in the agreement so….

TIF is moving forward.

Tami thanking the board for their time spent on this.

Joe saying he wants clarification on if the village is done negotiating.
Mayor and Max Painter and Terri Cummings saying that is true. The village is done negotiating. The taxing bodies have to sign the agreement or not have an agreement.

Tami brought treats for the board since it’s her last meeting.

Adjourned.
