December 14, 2025 Local Stories in and Around St. Joseph, Illinois

Tell me about your business.

I am an acrylic pour artist, meaning that I create art by pouring acrylic paint. I make my paintings by pouring paint onto canvas. I then use the leftover paint puddles to make the jewelry. The paint never flows the same way, so every piece is unique!

What has been the most challenging part about being a business owner?

I think the hardest part for me is balancing being a vendor with being a college student. During the school year I always have less time to create. I also have to juggle homework at events which can be a bit challenging.

What is the best part about working festivals?

It’s always great talking to people who are curious about how I create my items. I enjoy talking about my process, especially since it can be hard to tell that everything is made from paint! Talking to people at festivals also usually gives me new ideas about what to make.

What inspired you to go into business?

During the pandemic, I did a lot of acrylic pouring to the point that I was running out of room to make more. I decided to set up at the Homer Farmers’ Market to hopefully make more room. I did better than I anticipated and started going to other local festivals and markets. The rest is history!

What is your favorite carnival food?

    Definitely the funnel cake!
