Emily Williams has resigned as dance coach after 15 years. She has really taken the program to the next level over the years. The new dance coach will be Alyssa Hudson and her assistant will be Kaitlyn Hess.

Josh Haley is resigning as a drivers education teacher. Ryan Searby is resigning as assistant basketball coach and Cindy Acklin is resigning as a paraprofessional.

The Spanish teacher, Cailyn Krall, has resigned as Spanish teacher effective at the end of the school year.

They had six different companies bid for a perimeter fence. #WOW

The low base bid was from Century Fence out of Iowa for around $76,000.

Two alternates for black fabric windscreen and wind slats. “Those numbers were very significantly different.”

Brooks said they would prefer black wind slats.

They are going with Main Street construction, with the bid for the black wind slats for $91,000.

Bus Parking lot project will be awarded to Ezell Excavating out of Villa Grove.

TIF District update: The Schools have sent it their TIF District proposal back to the village. #ISHALLFOIAIT

Mr. Waterson would like to start a music honors society. #awesome.

Financial report: the financial report will change with the amended budget.


Interfund transfer: Set a hearing date to move $300,000 from transportation to O and M. This will allow them to finish some projects and will leave them with just under $500,000 in the transportation fund. It will be before the May board meeting.



Looking into grants for geothermal project. They could get up to a third back that they spent on the project.

They are taking nominations for the SJO friends of education. Send nominations to Brian Brooks by May 3.

Consolidate district plan- annual approval. It’s nothing exciting. We aren’t consolidating. It’s just the district plan and how they would spend grant money they receive.

this year’s graduation date is May 19 at 3 p.m.
Next year’s is May 18.

Discussing the student handbook. No major changes for next school year.
“We are supportive of what you have done and trust you,” Board member Alicia Maxey told Principal Gary Page who runs the handbook committee.

They are adding a current events class. #OMGTHISISNOTADRILL #BECKETTISTEACHINGIT #ILOVEIT

They are seeing an increase in special education needs. They will discuss it in closed session and in a future meeting because they are kicking around ideas.
