Live at SJO school board, August 22, 2022

I am here at school board!

Greg Smith has volunteered to drive extracurricular.

There’s a super long list of personnel changes.

Richard Vetter has resigned. I will update the rest shortly when I can get a complete list.

They are discussing bills now.

STA (Teacher union rep) is excited to be here. They are thanking the board for the new renovations. “New students and staff seem awesome.”

Items and dates: September labor day no school.

Sept. 21 is the academic honors assembly at 10 a.m.
Homecoming parade on Sept. 23 at 345 p.m. 23 is a half day. Sept. 26 will have a budget hearing and a regular board meeting. The board members got a pass for home games and away games.

Facility projects: Weight room is a little delayed. Worked on balcony for auditorium today. Wrestling room is almost all ready to go.

Just continuing with the update. “I feel very good with where we are at with everything we have committed to,” Brian Brooks said.

Discussing where the buses will go and how the softball field will layout. “We have talked about wanting to have a nice entrance to our campus and our village,” Brooks said. The village had committed verbally to putting in a new sidewalk and taking out the “dry” areas.

The village will officially vacate the alley tomorrow at their board meeting. #parking.

Discussing where softball could go.

Discussing the tentative budget for FY23.

Memorandum of agreement with the STA. It’s an insurance thing. They are still discussing it. It sounds kinda complicated.

Employee handbook time: covers a lot of mandated policies.

Bus driver minimum pay. 1.25 hours minimum

Ordinance with village discussion. Again the village should approve tomorrow.

Principals report: SJO is up 24 in enrollment to 467 . 461 are attending classes on campus. 6 are at Ready.
