Live at Ogden Village Board July 8

The Matanky Group is here saying they want to bring in a lot of business here to Ogden. He said they have also had discussions with St. Joe but he likes Ogden better. Talking about a Starbucks, Family Dollar, ect. He wants to build where the park is now and move the park for the village. Trustees discussing how residents near the park wouldn’t want commercials near them.

The presenter is saying they have relationships with tons of corporations. Here is their website.

Acklin saying it has been disappointing to see other towns get the Dollar General.

Presenter is saying Caseys could be a good fit. “I am just here putting out feelers and seeing how I can get my family back down here.”

He is throwing out ideas for development everything from nail salons to physical therapy to Wendy’s. Also brought up an Ace Hardware. People really want a hardware store in the area so that may be a good idea.

Discussing neighbors who have issues with each other. Acklin saying neighbors should address it with neighbors instead of coming to the board. Coming to the board should be a last resort, Acklin said.

Discussing how they need to enforce ordinances they have.

Discussing the resident with four dogs instead of three basically, they are going to let them have four dogs until the older dog passes away and then they can’t get another dog.

They are going to landscape near village hall not to exceed $1,000.

They voted to renew their website address.

Closed session to discuss salaries.

3.5 percent raise for the three village employees. Retroactive from May 1.

Discussing properties with tall weeds that need to be cut.

Discussing drainage. There is a blockage. They are going to investigate and may have to reroute the tile.

Jim Haan discussing the developer that was here. Saying its a good thing he has ideas and that he came to the village to discuss them. Haan saying the board needs to decide what they think Ogden needs. “Moving that park would be quite a significant change for our town.”

Events: Ogden Fest on Aug. 28: we need trees and weeds trimmed, road work needs to be done, ect. Bank needs to be made aware, road closure letters need to go out. Gabe saying that it will all be taken care of and he will get her the info.

There will be a scavenger hunt for kids, car show.

THere will be a movie in the park on Aug. 27. The movie shown will be Cars!
