St. Joseph Chamber cancels egg hunt

The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will not be holding its annual egg hunt.

The hunt would have been held March 27.

Last year’s egg hunt was also canceled due to COVID-19.

Chamber Treasurer Susan McKinney said the Chamber could not guarantee a socially distanced event and therefore they felt it was unsafe to hold the event which is usually held at Hackler Park.

Chamber Board Member and Village Trustee Jim Wagner said the chamber did not want to do anything that could cause a spike in COVID-19 cases.

“If that causes the positivity rate to go up the restaurants may have to shut down again. We don’t want to see that,” he said.
