10 things you don’t know about me… Amy Gibbons

How did you come up with the name for your salon? 192 is actually the St. Joseph exit number. I was raised in St. Joseph. This is also the town I dream of raising my family in. I knew I wanted it to be a number, and this one was meaningful to me.

What made you pursue being a business owner? I would say 90 percent of my clientele are from St. Joe; also with Sandy retiring, St. Joe really needed another salon downtown. I was really scared to make the jump, but deep down I knew it would be awesome in the end!

What are you most excited for with your new business? I’m excited to grow and build my business and get involved with this community!

What is the most difficult part of remodeling a building? Being patient! Deadlines never seem to work out with having so much needing to get done!

What is your favorite quote? “A comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there.” This has been my motto through this entire journey.

What do you love about your job? The relationships! I’m so blessed to have an amazing clientele; I have met some awesome families and grown some really good friendships with some amazing girls.

What is the most difficult part about your job? I would have to say the long days. Sometimes a full day of colors can end up being a 12-hour day.

What is your favorite service to perform? Balayage or foils! I love a good blonde. It’s tedious work, but it’s so beautiful in the end!

What do you do in your free time? What free time? I love to spend time with our friends, whether it’s board games or dinner and drinks at Roch’s. I’m so grateful for our amazing friend group.

How many pets do you have? I have one St. Bernard named Bernie Mac. He is 10 years old and the sweetest old man I’ve ever met. I also have two cats, Meredith and Mr. Grey. They are 4 years old and crazy.
