10 things you don’t know about me… Abbie Layden-Rogiers

Each week we ask a community member to tell us 10 things about themselves. This week is Abbie Layden-Rogiers, owner of The Wheelhouse.

This post is sponsored by the St. Joseph Dairy Queen.

I lived in Hawaii for a year.

One of my sons was born in a Best Western. We weighed him on a fruit scale at a grocery store.

I have been worried about the environment since I was young.

I was raised by an angel.

I thought I would feel older and wiser at this age.

I have a psychology degree from U of I, and used to be a social worker. It eventually got too sad for me.

Since then, I’ve graduated from an echocardiography program, managed a recycling center, worked in a factory, got a real estate license, and opened a restaurant. I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up.

I am deeply in love with my husband.

I wish I could travel all over the country planting fruit trees, so there is always free food available for poor people.

I am passionate about making the world a better place for girls.
