SJO School Board Candidate Kevin Taylor Q and A

There are five candidates running for four open seats on the SJO School Board.

Why are you running for school board?
I feel this is one way I can give back to the community I grew up in. I take pride in our school system and want the best for our students and teachers. We as a board have accomplished many things and we still have many more projects in the works that will enhance the educational environment for our students.

What is the biggest challenge facing school districts?
The biggest challenge facing school districts is the uncertainty of the State funding. It makes it difficult when districts are doing budgets and they do not know if they are going to get promised funds.

What is SJO’s greatest strength?
Our biggest strength as a distinct is our fiscal responsibility, and our supportive community.

What do you think your biggest strength is regarding serving on school board?
My biggest strength on the school board is my common sense approach to projects and the ability to bring different options to the table on many projects.

Tell me about your family.
I have been married to my wife for 23 years, we have four children, two boys and two girls all of which have or will have gone through SJO High School.
