A familiar face to lead PVO

Jeffrey Isenhower will start a new job on July 1, 2020.

He will take over the Prairieview-Ogden superintendent for Vic White, who is retiring on June 30, 2020.

For Isenhower, the job is a dream come true.

After working at a boys camp in Maine in 1994, Isenhower made the decision to pursue teaching. He returned from Maine, sold all his belongings and returned to school.

Isenhower came to PVO 13 years ago after jobs at Urbana High School and Centennial High School. Isenhower said his experience at those schools will help him in his new role, plus he still has connections to those districts.

“We help each other,” he said.

Despite previously working in larger districts, Isenhower said PVO was the perfect fit for him.

“I found that a great majority of the families, and the district as a whole, have the same values I was raised on,” he said. “The families in this district are great to work with as are the teachers.”

Isenhower has been with PVO since 2006 when he was hired as principal of South Elementary. He decided to continue his education and took classes to eventually be a superintendent. Isenhower said he knows he has big shoes to fill since White has been such a successful Superintendent.

“He has set the bar very high,” he said. “Mr. White has been a great teacher over the past 13 years and this next year I hope to be his star pupil as we work side by side.  I love interacting with the kids and the families and this district’s superintendent position will allow me to continue to do that.”

For now, Isenhower is still in principal mode and he doesn’t expect that to change until next school year when he said it will start to sink in that it will be his last year as principal.

Isenhower said his family has been very supportive of the change.

“My wife knows I love being around kids and that a small district like PVO is the only place I would ever want to be a superintendent just because I want to continue to work with the kids and in the larger districts that is rarely the case,” he said. “I feel that my personality and beliefs match well with the PVO school district so we are a good fit.”’

Isenhower’s salary will be $107,000.

The board of education also hired Carl Heuer as South Elementary Principal starting August 2020 with a salary of $67,000 and Allyson Bork as the new assistant principal of the Junior High starting August 2020.
In other news, the district’s kindergarten pre-registration will take place March 26-27 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at South Elementary in Ogden.
The board also approved 8th grade graduation to take place May 16 at 6 p.m. at the junior high.
